Australian Curriculum @ Glenwood State School

Teaching the Australian Curriculum with Fidelity

Our CARP (Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Plan) is inclusive of all year levels from Prep through to Year 6 and is focussed on developing the needs of the whole child. 

Our Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Plan (CARP) encompasses the teaching & learning and assessment of all Australian Curriculum learning areas:

  • English (One unit per term)
  • Mathematics (One unit per term)
  • Science (One unit per term)
  • HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences - encompassing History & Geography)
  • (one unit per semester in Prep to Year 4 and one unit per term Years 5 & 6)
  • Technologies (Design and Digital)
  • ​​The Arts (Visual Art, Music, Media, Dance and Drama)
    • Taught by our Specialist ARTS teachers - Mrs Amy Merrit (Music) and Mrs Lexi Schembri (Visual Art)
  • Health and  Physical Education  (HPE)
    • Taught by our Specialist HP&E teacher - Mr Travis Pinney
  • Languages Other than English (LOTE)  - Japanese (Year 6) 
    • T​aught by our Specialist Chinese teacher - Mrs Deb Morris

Mr Peter Genrich (Principal) along with Mrs Judy Loudon (Head of Inclusion) leads the three levels of Planning with all staff at Glenwood State School.

Each Year level has a Year Level Plan for all learning areas which identifies the Australian Curriculum Content descriptors, assessible elements and ensures the Australian Curriculum is covered for all students in Prep to Year 6.

Mr Peter Genrich (Principal) along with Mrs Judy Loudon (Head of Inclusion)​ leads the M1 - Unit Planning, unpacking of learning area units and assessments, develop learning ladders and goal setting for students.  

Case Management students are identified during these planning meetings as well as the differentiations required for all students, (differentiation - universal pedagogies for ALL Students: focused intervention for those students not attaining a C and Intensive intervention for at risk students and students on an Individual Curriculum Plan (ICP).

During weeks 3, 5 and 7 - All staff are involved in Case Management Meetings in English to provide opportunities for the Case Management team to discuss student progress towards their learning goal using a sample of student work.  This collaborative analysis of student work allows for discussion of next steps in effective teaching and learning for case managed students.

During week 8 -  Mr Peter Genrich (Principal) along with Mrs Judy Loudon (Head of Inclusion)​ leads the M2 - Case Management Meeting focusing on our A B and C level students worksamples to calibrate the evidence we are seeing in the student assessment samples of work in relation to the marking guides. 

Glenwood State School teachers are responsive to our student’s needs, they align the Australian Curriculum requirements in all learning areas and respond to the students learning through key signature pedagogies allowing effective instruction and differentiation occurs in every classroom, every day.​
