At Glenwood State School we are passionate about offering quality opportunities which facilitate the development and nurturing of existing and potential abilities for all our students in a safe and supportive environment. We believe that primary school education at Glenwood State School will begin to pave the way for our students to be able to find and make their own place in our global world. We are proud to be a State School.
As at the end of February 2012 we have an enrolment of 80 students across our P-7 classes. We currently have 4 classroom teachers who run Prep/1, 2/3, 4/5 and 6/7 classes. Each class receives substantial teacher aide time each day. Our motto is "Grow with Strength". We are committed as a community to working together to continue both academic and social and emotional growth in all aspects of life, particularly valuing:
skills for knowing how to learn and fostering a love of learning
being able to read, interpret and understand in both literacy and numeracy
becoming adept at the skills it takes to be successful – organisation, resilience, getting along, persistence and confidence (the 5 keys to success of our “You Can Do It” school program)
positive relationships between staff, students, community and all dynamics between.
We believe in the ability of all of our students to learn, at their own developmental pace and time, inclusive of their abilities and needs.
Our reflections on behaviour and interactions centre on accepting each student as an individual and assisting them to achieve success with that in mind. We accept mistakes as part of the human condition, and prefer to focus on positive interactions and making restitution for our mistakes. It is vitally important to us to maintain and build positive relationships between the school, families and the broader community and we embrace, value and build on the diversity and richness of experiences our students bring to school.
As we continue to grow, our school adapts to meet the needs of our students and broader community. It is our vision that this growth will culminate in the school continuing to be a valued part of the community, and that its focus will broaden to embrace the education and needs of our broader community. We welcome you to our school and invite you to participate in its exciting future.
